The Virtuous Cycle for Energy Efficiency is a framework for enterprise-based Strategic Energy Management to drive deep energy savings. It was developed by EDF in collaboration with the MIT Sloan School. It describes the organizational capacities needed to continuously improve energy management in an organization.

This report provides detailed recommendations for the advancing the building EE market in the health care sector. It is part of Phase III of the BRIM (Building Retrofit Industry and Market) development project. It was funded by a coalition of six foundations who also funded similar research for the commercial real estate, retail, single family and multi-family sectors.

This March 2012 report by Deutsche Bank Climate Change Advisors and the Rockefeller Foundation (“United States Building Energy Efficiency Retrofits — Market Sizing and Financing Models”) builds on the BRIM Phase II market research to size the overall building retrofit market and recommend financing strategies for growing the market.

This document is the Executive Summary of a broader Building Retrofit Industry and Market Development Project (BRIM-DP) launched in early 2010 to inform philanthropic investments in building energy retrofits (i.e., the application of energy efficient or clean generation measures to existing building stock). BRIM-DP was designed in three phases: 1) Phase I – Develop a Framework for Market Development; 2) Phase II – Create a Detailed Market Segmentation and Summarize Existing Market Research on Each Segment; and 3) Phase III – Develop Detailed Segment-Specific Strategies and Organize Key Stakeholders to Collaborate on National Investment Strategies. Phase I created a broad framework for a coordinated national strategy to develop the building retrofit market.
